August 2024 Newsletter

From the Desk of the CEO

From The Desk of CEO: Headshot of Dr. Bill McGann

QCi's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. William McGann, provides an update on QCi's strategic progress this month.

Read an excerpt from his August 2024 message below:

"QCi has made significant progress this month. All corporate activities have remained strongly aligned with our vision of generating revenue and seeking additional investment in our business.

We onboarded two critical sales leaders, Richard Nelson and Pouya Dianat, to drive sales of our commercial products and to establish our business strategy for photonic chips. Both new leaders will drive profitable growth and credibility in the high-performance computing and nanophotonic chips markets.

We also conducted our first technology webinar on the topic of entropy computing. More than 175 attendees tuned into the live session to listen to QCi Quantum Technology Lead, Dr. Lac Nguyen, and QCi Scientific Advisor and Professor of Physics, Mohammad-Ali Miri, as they discussed the company’s accessible quantum optimization machines for non-convex and combinatorial problems.

What's the Latest at QCi

QCi Team with New Wafers at the AZ Chip Foundry

QCi Thin Film Lithium Niobate (TFLN) Foundry Opening in Q4 2024

This month, QCi’s TFLN fabrication facility in Tempe, Arizona moved into its final phase of construction and capital equipment installation.

With this first-of-its-kind foundry in the United States, QCi will manufacture high-performance photonic integrated circuits (PICs), or photonics chips, based on TFLN, a novel material that QCi believes will become the new silicon of the future.

The company’s TFLN facility, which will be fully operational in late 2024, will have both front end and packaging capabilities for a 150 mm wafer line, as well as the ability to design, simulate, and characterize optoelectronic devices.

Check out the behind-the-scenes photos of the new manufacturing facility and stay tuned for more updates as QCi approaches the grand opening.

QCi Visits Manhattan Project Sites at Los Alamos

This month, QCi had the opportunity to visit Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to present QCi’s technology.

During the visit, QCi's team visited the sites around the Manhattan Project National Historical Park. See snapshots from the trip, including the QCi team in front of the re-creation of the historic security gate and the home to J. Robert Oppenheimer during the Manhattan Project.

💡 Webinar Recap

Dirac-3 Use Case Webinar Slide

View highlights from QCi’s insightful webinar where QCi’s Dr. Lac Nguyen and Dr. Mohammad-Ali Miri delved into entropy computing and shared a recent use case with NASA using QCi’s latest entropy quantum optimization machine, Dirac-3.

During the session, Dr. Nguyen explained how QCi has been helping NASA denoise the sunlight in satellite LiDAR images by using the Dirac-3 to simulate the background noise and turn the denoising problem into an optimization problem.

Using entropy computing methods, QCi was able to cover major features on the LiDAR image where the signal was completely buried in 200X background noise.
